Sound Problem with Ubuntu 9.10

I have a HP Compaq dc5000 desktop at home that was running Ubuntu 9.04 
before I upgraded to 9.10. It has an internal sound card and did not 
require speakers to get pretty good sound output when running 9.04.
Now after the upgrade I can not get the sound to work. Here is output

Dmesg command is not giving me any obvious sound related errors.

The hardware selected by default in sound preferences is Audio Analog 
Stereo. I also tried all the other options to no avail.

Any help that you can provide would be appreciated.
