Hi Bill,

We have a tent if the weather is wet. We also have an inspiring collection of solar power products - and so far it looks like we'll have plenty of sun to power them. We have many hundreds of watts of battery power - probably enough to run a heater or two and certainly enough to run the computers, monitors and electronics gear (including Ubuntu systems) that we'll have on site. Our photovoltaic / solar power plant is courtesy of some generous support from the US Army Soldier Research Development & Engineering Center in Natick.

So there will be a lot to see and do, and plenty of opportunity to explore and learn about the mesh wireless and solar power technologies we'll have at the Corporal Burns Park. Plus, there's a great view of the race.

We'll have balloons flying - including a weather balloon and plenty of balloons flying to mark the location.

Brian
Brian,

Cool gear, cool idea. way to go!

given the usual weather for HoCR, I might have put a solar event on a
different race day given free choice, but it never is unconstrained is
it? I have worked HoCR (in a safety boat as radio op), and the day
typically goes from chill brisk to warm to hot to wet to freezing, so
while the otterboxes will protect the net gear, take care to
waterproof the people, and use layers.

That said, sounds fun, and I hope for everyone including the MIT Flea
that the weather is good.

do warn folks coming to visit you about (the lack of) parking onRace
day. Alewife our Brantree/qouincy garages and redline to central, then
walk.
