The issue probably isn't PC100 vs PC133 per se, but the fact that the 
PC133 memory was likely to have been more modern memory using higher 
density chips (fewer chips with more memory on each one). PC133 memory 
can be operated at the lower speed, and usually the SPD contains data 
for timing at the PC100 speed. (On brand name systems the lack of SPD 
data is an issue as there is usually no manual workaround; on white box 
desktop systems you can typically enter all the timings yourself if 
necessary.)

So... if somebody offers you a large donation of PC133 SODIMMs, you 
should try them out as they might work. No, I don't have any sitting around.
