k3b is not configurable, kaudiocreator is to some extent, but does not
explicitly support AAC out of the box.  It allows you to specify the
binary.  It's OK,  I got abcde to do everything I need except aac file
tagging...

Ah, yes.  I would use a free format, but unfortunately my iPod does
not play them. I support binary freedom, and it irks me that Apple has
chosen to not support some free formats.  Maybe this has changed in
later models of the iPod?  I haven't been keeping up on things
lately...
