I believe if you go to System Settings->Appearance there's a place to toggle auto-hiding on/off.

ok, cool! thanks!! you know, since it doesn't auto-hide, i don't find myself overshooting my cursor and bringing it out and that used to annoy the crap out of me. but since it stays out, i see it, and i don't get so frustrated. but, i feel i missing part of the screen since i'm not used to having it out all the time. but i'll give that link a shot and see what i can do. thanks again!
