[ubuntu-us-in] Ubuntu-us-in Digest, Vol 44, Issue 8

I never do upgrades as I feel Ubuntu doesn't have the person power to properly verify every permutation of an upgrade. I mount /home as a separate partition so installing new is trivially easy. I install the OS fresh and then the /home partition has all my data already on it. No copying between OSs is needed :) The hardest part is reinstalling the apps.

However, if I encrytped /home (which I do not) this may not be as easy as it is w/o encryption.

Tue, Jan 10th if not upgradeable just install the operating systems side by side and manually move what you want to keep into 11.10 from 11.04 this could stop your problem or just use both operating systems running side by side until you can figure out if the distribution ISO is defected that you are trying from..
Sometimes you might think it is Ubuntu but I have never had a problem like this as I build my own computer exclusively made to run any operating system going even mac os.
