Brody,
First of all, you should register for the mailing list! :-)
Secondly, strangely enough you sent this e-mail in the day after a big
box of the official, professional looking, Ubuntu 8.04 CDs arrived in
the mail.
I'll be splitting the box with Michael, and we'll do what we can to
get them out to people.
Brody, where in the state do you live?
Others, if you want CDs, let the list know.
I'm in Fort Wayne and Michael's in Indianapolis, how can we best
distribute these CDs? Perhaps if there are quite a few people in a
particular area who want them, we can send one of those people enough
for everyone and have them distribute it.
Anyhow, I've only got 400-500 of them (I don't remember how many we
were expecting...), mostly x86 Desktop editions, but some Kubuntu,
some Server, fewer of each in 64 bit, and a few of the Edubuntu Add-on
CDs (Edubuntu is now an add-on "Education Edition" CD to the desktop
editions, not its own "distribution").
So let us know which versions you're particularly interested in.
Let me mention that, as we've only got so many of these, let's make
them count. In other words, only ask for ones you plan to give out and
when you've got them do your best to give them out.
You know the people who don't care if you hand them a burned CD, and
the people who would be more impressed by and more likely to actually
try something that comes in a nice, slick, professional packaging.
It's the latter group of people we're trying to aim these at.
Now, I don't begrudge anyone wanting to keep one as a memento ;-),
just remember that they've only got a limited time span wherein
they'll be the latest and greatest from Ubuntu, so we should use them
in that time span.
We'll get more when Intrepid comes out, so there's no reason to hoard these.
