I agree. If I'm talking to fellow Ubunteros I use Warty, Hoary,
Breezy, Dapper, Edgy, Feisty, Gutsy, Hardy.
If I'm talking to a technical person who I don't otherwise know is
familiar with Ubuntu I might say Seven-dot-Ten, and I might explain
that that means it came out (or is going to come out) in October of
2007.
If I'm talking to a non-technical person, I say "The latest version"
"Last version" "The upcoming version".
Just me.
