Hello Team,

*
*MARCH LOCO MEETING*
To meet room availability at ITT, and to spread out the events in lieu of
the April Global Jam event, we have moved the March meeting one week
earlier. We will meet from *7-8:30 PM, Thursday, March 17th*.
The topics covered will be:
· *Openshot* - video editor
· *Ubuntu* *One* - cloud service built into Ubuntu
· *Networking/Wifi* *Management*- managing connections, getting your
connection info (ifconfig/netstat/wicd)
*UBUNTU GLOBAL JAM*
In preparation for the next OS release (11.04, Natty), Ubuntu is having a
Global Jam the weekend of April 1st. We are participating by having a
meeting on *Saturday April 2nd from 8:30 to 12:30* where we will be testing
the new release, reporting bugs, and contributing to documentation. After
the event we will have lunch - more to come on the event soon.
*RELEASE PARTY*
Ubuntu 11.04 is releasing on *Thursday, April 28th*. We will be having a
release party on that night, 7-9:30 PM, location Idaho Pizza Company. We
will be celebrating the release and talking shop while sharing diner, no set
topics that night. We will do an install fest in early May although you are
more than welcome to install it that night as well.
*DATA VISUALIZATION GROUP*
There is a new interest group forming around data visualization, and the
programming language processing in Boise. If you have not heard about this
easy to use language (I just discovered it at the Boise Code Camp) then
check it out here – it is fun and impressive.
The mission of the Boise Data Visualization Group is to create a community
of individuals interested in data and visualization. We will meet once every
2/3 months and talk about data visualization. We plan to have 2/3 presenters
every meeting and get a chance to share our experiences with management of
data, problems with data analysis and some visualization solutions. The
meetings will usually last from 6:00pm-8:00pm on a Wednesday/Thursday.
Please feel free to join yourself and invite others at your
company/university to the Boise Data Visualization Group.
*Google group* link - https://groups.google.com/group/boise-datavis I am
aiming for our first meetup in the second week of April (April 13th/14th).
If you have any preferences, please let me know. If you are willing to host
us for the meeting, that would be great. If you have any
suggestions/questions, please direct them to Alark Joshi (
alarkjoshi at boisestate.edu).
