I don't want you to think we hate this idea -- because we don't. I'm
thinking there's a little disconnect from the information already known
in the loco, and what you are proposing, so since you are kind of new
to the team, here's a crash course:

We hold face to face meetings. where we all go to a pizza place and
have lunch and discuss Linux stuff.

We also hold installfests where we help users install the latest Ubuntu
after each release.

More recently, we have begun holding what is called the Atlanta Linux
Fest. Our first one was last year. This idea came out of a discussion
about holding an UbuCon. It was determined that:

1) We would cut off a major OSS community if it were Ubuntu-only.

and

2) There's not enough Ubuntu users in Georgia to account for making a
large event (yet).

So, I'm not saying there can't be one in the future, it's just that we
have a different focus at the moment. Our year has it's own schedule.
We try to hold the Atlanta Linux Fest, two installfests, and several
face to face meetings throughout the year. Adding another major event
to the calendar would be extremely difficult, especially for volunteers.
I think I've plainly
explained myself. If you are uninterested, kindly do not post your
email address. That is all you have to do.

If you'd rather it be called the same thing that it's always called -
that's fine with me. I just want to organise a face-to-face meeting
with Ubuntu users, Linux users, and anyone who'd like to be there.

This wouldn't happen for another year, as I have already explained, so
there would be no clash with other meetings/gatherings.

If you are so very against the idea, do not come. Alternatively, if
you'd like to support Ubuntu and the LoCo, you are welcome to help.

I sincerely apologise if I have been a bit short with you, but there is
absolutely no reason to be so against my idea. No hard feelings. :-)
All right, then. My
apologies, especially to Jim, for not understanding exactly how the
organization of team gatherings work, necessarily.

My understanding about the ALF was that it was a step down from an
UbuCon, but I see that I was also mistaken here. I will certainly
support the ALF and the installfests, plus any other gatherings.
Sorry for every inconvenience, guys. :-)
