Ubuntu wins - Again!

The French Gendamerie has decided to go with Ubuntu on about 17,000
desktops. This should mean a whole lot to Ubuntu considering that Mandriva
has a good foothold in France.  More power to Ubuntu.
Since almost all new systems are now 64Bit, what is the status of Ubuntu
64bit.  Is *.04 going to address this issue in a big way?
   Thanks for any insight into this.
