I wouldn't hold my breath on it.  The newest ATI driver, while it
enables fglrx to work with AIGLX, is---like all of their silly
proprietary blogs---nothing to write home about.  It's flakey, and
causes (at least on my system) screen corruption and other strange
issues.  I had not tested hibernation, but I am not sure that I would be
willing to, either.
