Well, I haven't tried that, typically my "upgrades" don't turn out as well
as a fresh install.
For an upgrade, the supported method is via "update manager"

System > Administration > Update Manager

There will be a notification telling you there is a "New Distribution
release '7.10' is available" Then an upgrade button, I just don't know if I
trust the process. I plan to do a full backup of my home directory and
applications to the network, and then do a full install of 7.10.
