Team,
It's that time again. I have created the following wiki entry:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FloridaTeam/ReapprovalApplication2012, and am in
need of some help in updating the information there, please add pictures
links, updated project information, and contributions you've made on behalf
of the team. We were already due to expire, and in fact did, but I have
talked with the rest of the council and have gotten a 30 day extension for
us to re-apply, which is common practice lately with expirations sneaking
up.
Also, I wanted to take a moment to apologize to all of you, as I have had a
lot of stuff crop up lately in my personal and work life, and I feel really
bad that I haven't been able to devote as much attention my administrative
duties as Team Contact. I normally would have been on top of this
re-approval and would have definitely asked for help in getting the
necessary information in the wiki updated, before experiencing any of this
turbulence.
I am planning to find out (hopefully tomorrow) whether or not a re-approval
bug will be created and hopefully If I can get a volunteer to handle the
LoCo Councils re-approval questions, we can complete the re-approval wiki
and re-approval process through Launchpad. If not we will need someone else
to step up and represent the team at the next LoCo Council Meeting.
Last year sometime, Michael Hall made a recommendation that we hold team
elections in order to help revitalise our team. I am not sure whether or
not I was being prideful, but at the time I didn't see the value in holding
those elections. Based on my limited availability these days, and with
hindsight being 20/20, I think he was right. It's important that we give
others and opportunity to serve in these roles within the Florida Team. I
have added this as a roadmap item on our re-approval page.
I plan to stay involved with the team, continuing to hold Linux Meet-ups,
and Release Parties here in my area, and will add information to the team
reports. I also plan to continue to visit other events as I have in the
past, as I'm able to. I have already placed our order for the LTS 12.04
CDs, last cycle there was a mishap that occurred with ship-it and
unfortunately our set was sent to another Country. I have received
confirmation that our CDs are on the way, and should be here somewhere
around May 8th or so.
Thanks for your support,
Chris Crisafulli
