I use byobu-tmux, I have had redraw issues in the past when re-attaching 
to my irssi sessions, one thing that seemed to help was to unload the 
nicklist.pl in my irssi session. I also reattach running the following 
which seemed to help reduce this really weird terminal shrinking problem 
that seemed to happen when I  reattached:

tmux att -d -t 0
