Sorry for the delay in response, but your best bet would be to join our
IRC Channel at #ubuntu-florida (this will redirect you to #ubuntu-us-fl
automatically).

If you already know how to use IRC just enter the #ubuntu-us-fl channel,
this is a good place to go when you need some advice and it's also where
we hold our bi-monthly meetings. Meetings will be held every 1st and 3rd
Tuesday of every month at 9 p.m. - 10 p.m. EST.

If you have never used IRC before there's a set of instructions on how
setup pidgin, (empathy would be set up pretty much the same way) in a
couple of easy steps located here:
