As Dan says - Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Daughters, Aunts, Uncles,
Nephews, Nieces (Nice?), that weird Brother-in-law who always insists on
telling you the play-by-play of his fantasy football league, EVERYONE is
welcome.
As far as the Mothers Day thing goes;
Mothers Day (the 'real' one), is based on the European Christian festival of
Mothering Sunday, celebrated on the fourth Sunday in Lent. This was at the
end of March this year, so you are all late already.
The American Mothers Day was championed by Julia Ward Howe in 1870 through
her 'Mothers Day Proclamation'. This was, in reaction to the horrors of the
American Civil War, a call for Women of America to take political
responsibility for the future of the country. In this case, the day should
not require Sons to buy their Mothers a bunch of flowers, rather the Mother
should take the day to have a positive effect on society.
So, to sum up, some people aren't Christian, some people don't have Mothers,
and some people love their female relatives enough to want to share the joys
of an open operating system with them.
