I tried apt-get dist-upgrade, which produced tons of screen content, as well as removing the timidity package.  Unfortunately the boot still hangs.<br><br>I'm not sure (nor have I ever been) how to interpret the contents of dmesg.  The last 20 lines of the file are here for anyone kind enough to help me understand what they mean.  I can provide the whole file if that's useful.<br>
