Can you explain how to do that?

How come in order to get a system that is an working LDAP client I can:

Run around in circles always being told to do one more thing

*or*

Install EL6 which just works?

I'm sure he knows what one is, having been a core dev for 6 years or
so. However, your merge proposal is unlikely to be accepted unless its
safety is assured. So, do the research necessary to convince the
security team that you're not creating a security issue and talk to
them.
