[DC LoCo] I cannot find the keyboard layout indicator...

Hi,

On a fresh install (well, factory install) of Oneiric, I added an
alternate keyboard layout and up popped the indicator.

On an upgraded system, doing the same thing got me no indicator,
although the key combo Shift-CapsLock is switching between the
keyboard layouts.

Searching the web has gotten me nowhere.

Anyone know what's wrong and / or how to fix it?
