[DC LoCo] Kernel question

Thank you one and all for the help tips on the issue where the 
downloaded and installed kernels were not booting up. I even found 
others with the same issue. I learned through synaptic I had both 0.97 
and 1.99 grub installed.

I copied to USB my personal files and thunderbird "dot" directory to a 
USB stick.

I moved them to a refurb PC I have had as a a backup/replacement. 
(Lubuntu 12.10.)

Through synaptic I removed 0.97, re-installed 1.99, and re-booted. The 
oldest kernel is still booting despite the other ones being listed in /boot.

I tried CLI that I found that other people did and all I got was errors, 
locks, and no perms.

I put the backup/refurb box in operation. I will just wipe the 6 year 
old box with a new install of something like Peppermint or AntiX.
