I read an article on PC World's site, I think, talking about a monthly
release cycle. I brought it up yesterday at TPFF with Barry Warsaw, who said
that the article highlights a known problem in the development cycle, but
that he is among unconvinced that a monthly release is the answer.

What I read just seemed damned silly from an average user's perspective. If
it's a bad idea for folks to skip a release, then you're encouraging the
masses to always do the full upgrade monthly or switch to a Long Term
Support release.

Well, actually, I suppose the upgrade manager could figure out how to
automatically run through all the intermediate releases between where a user
is and where they want to go, applying each upgrade sequentially. Still, it
seems like people will almost be upgrading more often than they are actually
using the software
