Hi,

I've noticed that there is some rudimentary support for 4G WIMAX now.

I have a Beceem 3G/4G USB device. lsusb says:

Bus 001 Device 008: ID 198af:0220 Beceem Communications Inc.
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 1199:0301 Sierra Wireless, Inc.

The 3G device mode is the Sierra. The 4G mode is the Beceem chipset.

In Linux 2.6.38 there is a note along with the config option

drivers/staging/bcm/Kconfig

config BCM_WIMAX
tristate "Beceem BCS200/BCS220-3 and BCSM250 wimax support"
depends on USB && NET && EXPERIMENTAL
       default N
       help
This is an experimental driver for the Beceem WIMAX chipset used
         by Sprint 4G.
