What is the purpose of the box that the OP was talking about?  If it
was a server then you really shouldn't be jumping point versions like
that on a production server.  Upgrading to every new version is
something you do on dev servers and desktops.  You want to lean toward
stability for production servers and use LTS.  That way you don't have
to do a dangerous upgrade that often.

I only run LTS (2 years between upgrades) or FreeBSD-STABLE (RELENG_7
is going on 4 years and its planned EOL is in 2013) on production
servers.
