That doesn't surprise me. Amazon wants to control its software. Just look at their EC3 services.

Amazon has a strict policy of never contributing to open source
projects.  As to why they have this policy, I don't know.  I think
even for reporting bugs and bug fixes an employee is required to use
their personal email and have no mention of Amazon.  Therefore, there
are probably numerous bug reports in xen and linux that essentially
originate at Amazon, but are not acknowledged as such.
