In this case, the next step was to either get it fixed in Debian or
wait for the Ubuntu maintainer to get around to it.
Stable release bugfixes do get postponed for 10 days so individuals
using the -proposed repository can try out the new versions and make
sure they don't break things. It's a lot easier to kill a -proposed
update before it gets pushed to -updates for everyone.

If you don't like dealing with the Ubuntu/Debian processes to get bugs
fixed, then yes, sure you can pay someone to do it for you. If you
