Hey fellow DC Ubuntu users. I'd like you do something for me.

I'd like you to do a ping test to www.google.com and reply here with
the results. I'm on a 20mbps Verizon FiOS Internet connection in
Hyattsville, MD and this is what I'm getting from Google.com...

thezorch at thezorch-desktop:~$ ping -c 10 www.google.com
PING www.l.google.com (72.14.204.104) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- www.l.google.com ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 6 received, 40% packet loss, time 9006ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 7.949/9.023/10.312/0.948 ms

Some people I talk to often in Google Buzz have also noticed problems
with the connection to Gmail and Google.com in general in different
parts of the country. Have you been experiencing the same problems?
Laggy connections, picture not loading correctly, pages taking a long
time to load, etc? Please let me know. I've done other tests and
Google.com is the ONLY domain that has packet loss on my connection.
