[DC LoCo] dual boot on a Macbook: Ubuntu and and Apple's OS

 Does anyone still do this? Is this possible? I know they used to make apple hardware specific versions of the Ubuntu OS, but now I assume that doesn't matter anymore , since Apple started using Intel chips. 

So my question is, are people still installing Ubuntu onto macbooks specifically, or Apples generally? And if so, is it possible to dual boot, in a manner somewhat similar to the Wubi experience with a Windows machine? 

Curious, as some potential employer is asking me how many thousands of dollars he should shell out (budget in) for my computer needs. 

yeah. Not the worst position to be in, .....if he's serious.
