Then it will always count as a Windows machine.  Market share is measured by 
number of machines sold with each OS.  When you buy a Windows machine and 
install Ubuntu, it will only count as a Windows machine.  This results in 
under-estimating Linux adoption.  It also lets manufacturers say, "well nobody 
wants Linux; they're all buying Windows, see?"  The only way to show that 
Linux really is in demand and in use is to make sure the machine runs Linux 
when it leaves the manufacturer's warehouse.
