Dear Phil,
Based on your letter below, you need to perform the following tests as
root from the terminal:
1. ifconfig -a | more /* pick out wireless device */
2. ifconfig <wireless device>
3. /* examine output find IP address */
4. ping <IP address> /* should ping if not then stop and send email to me */
5. cat /etc/resolv.conf /* should contain ip addresses record one */
6. ping <IP address recorded> /* you are now checking your DNS */
7. ping mit.edu /* should work */
Copy and paste theses steps and their results into your response email to
me.
BTW this 5.04 will work and I understand why you are doing what you are
doing.
