I've personally been looking at the <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=eeepc&x=0&y=0">Asus eeePC</a>.  They run from 299 - 499 depending on  what you are looking for. These things seem to work out great as long as your not wanting to play games, and what your requirements are, seems it would work just fine. <a href="http://wiki.eeeuser.com/eee_pc_701#models">Here is a good community wiki model comparison sheet.</a> 1. Estimated battery Life : 2.8 - 3.5 hrs 2. 256 for Surf; 1gig for the 8gb model; most are expandable 3.
