[CoLoCo] Making a Xubuntu install headless?

I have not tried this, so, try at your own risk...

If you go into the /etc/rc3.d directory, and move S30gdm to K30gdm

Then you create a new file in /etc called inittab and add one line to it:
    id:3:initdefault:

This SHOULD work. Like I said, never tried it. Deleting the inittab, or renaming it, will bring back the full desktop in case of trouble.

Hey Ubuntistas,

I did a regular Xubuntu install a while ago but I'm turning it into a
server and would like to get rid of the GUI (XFCE), login manager, etc.

Is there a simple way to do this? I remember a while back that I could
just do apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop but either that doesn't work in
Xubuntu or it's no longer the right way to do it.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Ringo
