No, that is true, but the old test was this odd mix that never made much sense in my mind.  In the new tests, they are trying to have a walk before you crawl kind of attitude.  First prove you can use Linux, Next prove you can administer Linux, Then finally, with the LPIC 3, you take a core, then tests on what you are an expert at (i.e. security, integrating with Windows networks, etc)
