[CoLoCo] Odd load for sleep mode

I am playing with Ubuntu on an eee 901 model. I got most things working
today and put it to sleep. It was "sleeping" for about 6 hours after about 4
hours of uptime. When I woke it, I checked the uptime to see how sleep
affected it. What I got was:
uptime
20:04:40 up 10:03, 2 users, load average: 9.39, 3.37, 2.85
In the past, the uptime usually didn't include the time it was sleeping so
I'm not sure which is the correct behavior. However, how could the load be
over 9 after having just woken up?
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
