Speaking of which, I'm giving VirtualBox a go right now with Xubuntu.  
So far so good!  I tried Qemu, it wouldn't load the installer when the 
LiveCD booted.  VirtualBox handled the GUI installer just fine.  Qemu 
also seemed much much much slower than VirtualBox in brining up the boot 
menu for the LiveCD.
