Ok, finally got the AMD64 version of Ubuntu 8.04 installed on my
laptop. Surprisingly, the drivers for my laptop's 802.11g adapter were
with the initial install, at least that's what the Hardware Drivers
screen says anyway. However, I can't find any way of configuring a
wireless connection to our router. It uses WEP. Do I need to connect
to the router via Ethernet to download an wireless configuration program
from Add/Remove Programs? Otherwise everything works but the Desktop
Effects. Hardware Drivers says the Nvidia drives are installed but not
in use and Desktop Effects can't be enabled. I'm more concerned with
the wireless adapter at this point, but being able to use the zoom and
inverse color options for accessibility purposes would be nice too.
