In my case that's sidux - a relatively new kde distro based on Debian
sid (thus the name). I'll not trouble you Ubuntu folks with a long
diatribe about it's benefits, but here's the basics.

1. sidux tracks the Debian sid software - KDE only and no server
version (who in their right mind would run sid on a server?)
2. The distro is run by a group of Debian developers (mostly) in Germany
3. Like Debian testing and sid, sidux is a continuous-upgrade system.
The releases are only checkpoints for new users to dive in. Once
installed, you upgrade it forever.
4. sidux is not designed for the joe-sixpack user, although a few of
these have dived right in and are loving it.
5. sidux (because of the sid connection) operates with apt-get update
+ dist-upgrade only for updates. apt-get upgrade is almost guaranteed
to break the system due to less stringent dependency checking. Also
guaranteed to break the system is letting the system age too long
without updates.
6. sidux has the same pre-packaged-procedural approach to installing
proprietary stuff that you're familiar with on Ubuntu.
7. Works great on my laptop (thinkpad r51) and desktops (amd cpu + nVidia).
8. Very responsive forum users, and the developers participate fully
in the discussions, unlike Ubuntu.

That's about it. I will continue to monitor Ubuntu (it's a good
product for most users) discussions, but I have performed my last
Ubuntu installation. Unless I get new hardware, I'll be upgrading
sidux until the end times.
