[CoLoCo] USB Keyboard problem

Is it normal for a USB keyboard to not work if it becomes unplugged and
replugged?

That's my problem of the moment. I was trying to share one keyboard
between two boxes (the other one is a windows xp box (I'm at work :) and
it works fine on there.)

Since I use a keyboard tray, switching plugs is much more usable than
switching keyboards, so any advice would be appreciated.

I tried searching in general and on the ubuntu forums, no joy.
