I did the dist-upgrade path and I thought at first that I was totally
hosed.
During boot ( 2.6.27-9-generic) it appears to hang and sets there for
a *very* long time. Long enough, in fact, that I thought it was hung
so I hit the power key.
After holding the power key for a second or two, progress resumes. It
does boot into that kernel and then, no surprise, X won't start as it
can't parse the config file. It doesn't like the RgbPath directive.
I comment that out and get X started. Mindful of all the discussion
that had gone on about how much trouble X was to get sorted, I was a
bit apprehensive.
Turns out that it wasn't a big deal, mainly because I'm using the
nvidia X server. Running through the config after restarting X to use
that server got everything straightened out.
I am curious, however, about that initial pause. Anyone else
experienced anything like that? Any hints on what I might google for
to find out more info or what I can set to see boot details instead of
just an nice orange progress bar?
Thanks.
Ken
