I wonder if something a little more generically linux might be better
for the linux community as a whole, although I think with a strong
Ubuntu presence.

It's definitely not for lack of interest, that's for sure. Currently,
I work for myself, and I work when there is work (although I have a
steady 50 hours a week usually). So I don't mind showing up and
helping out, but the work schedule is so unpredictable that I could be
there all week or not at all.

I've been pretty active with the NCLUG here for quite a while now, and
I think it would be a good thing to ping some people there who might
be able to help out. Jim's daughter will be presenting her RNG
research, along with a few other lightning tutorials (RPM packaging,
DEB packaging, kernel recompiling), so maybe if we saw a few new faces
there trying to get involved, it would be a good thing. You might
also be able to ping some people for space to do an install fest or
something (which would be good for the community as a whole).
