I am running kubuntu, but I did the old fashioned update.

I've been running it since about tribe 1, but I edited /etc/apt/sources and
the the apt-get -f dist-update.

I have not tried kde4 yet.  No major issues, except some flakiness with
Network Manager, and that has been fixed lately.
