[CoLoCo] new t-shirt / help idea

Although I would much rather use Linux than any other OS, I don't see
a need to bash Microsoft by using a domain like normorevista, etc. As
for targeting a particular group, we're looking to target the
individuals who are curious, or who are interested in converting to
Linux (to Ubuntu) from Windows or OS-X.

What are we talking about here? We're talking about designing shirts
that will hopefully act as advertising tools that might get people to
seek out more information about Linux and about Ubuntu, and hopefully
take it upon themselves to become Ubuntu converts. There are many
people out there who are fed up with their OS, who have heard about
Linux, and who are curious about what it might take to make the
change.

I still feel that the site should be simple. There could be a "forum"
aspect to it (if people felt that it would be a productive feature)
where users could post support requests, but seeing how the Ubuntu
forum is available and is such a great and effective resource, I am
reluctant to launch a forum that is beyond the scope of local
Colorado-related Ubuntu events and basic support. I envision that the
heart and soul of the website should be:

- What is open source? Linux is open source.
- Why use Linux over Windows or OS-X
- Why use Ubuntu
- Where to download, how to burn an ISO, and how to perform the install
- Links to resources; Ubuntu Screencasts is one of many really good ones
- Updated list of installfests that take place around the state

There really are already many great resources already out there. It
seems to me that when trying to reach individuals who are perhaps less
computer savvy, who are interested in possibly dumping Windows or
whatever OS they might have, it seems to me that simple, concise
information is effective, and that less is more. Too much information
can confuse people; if it seems like a difficult process, then we may
loose our audience.

My vote is also for freeyourcomputer.org. It's catchy. It's simple.
It's easy to remember. The shirt design could also be simple, yet
would be designed to provoke individuals to go to the website for more
information, or even ask the person who was wearing the shirt for more
information.

[tink tink tink...] 2 more cents in the pot.

- Darrin
