There are lots of opportunities no matter what your skills.

David - do you remember where the discussions on a "splash-screen to
welcome new users upon first boot offering a general tutorial to the
system" happened?  Starting by reviewing that sort of stuff could
avoid a lot of wheel-spinning.  And of course there may be other
better approaches to mitigating security risks.

Or Google searches might uncover them.
