Sounds like an X configuration issue. Every now and then I have a box which has problems automatically configuring the hardware settings for the GUI. (Particularly with the Dapper LiveCD -- but that's another can of worms)
<br><br>You'll need to look into how to configure /etc/X11/xorg.conf<br><br>To see what the errors are that you're getting, log in at the command line and run the command "startx". When the GUI fails to load it should show you the errors ("EE") on the command line, and from there we can help you troubleshoot.
