Not that I would ever pay a nickel to see RMS speak -
I'm not surprised.

The guy's got to feed himself somehow, I doubt he's doing code bounties,
getting paid for technical support or any of the other so called ways an
individual programmer can earn a living in an open source world.

Welcome to the world of public speaking.
You should see what a lot of other celebrities charge for speaking fees, its
all insane.
