I also would love to encourage this. I think it is important for our legislature to know that there are other solutions out there that give the consumer options and allow the healthy competition that our society thrives on.
Sincerely,

I like this. I am down to work on it via a sprint, and assuming we have less then 8 people working, we can form a Google hangout maybe. Do we have any leaders names in mind yet?

Greetings,
Oakland has been chosen once again for uds.ubuntu.com<http://uds.ubuntu.com> May 6-9, 2013!
The "s" adjective and animal for uds-s have yet to be chosen.

I would like to propose a letter writing campaign with ubuntu-us-ca
volunteers. We will target our state legislature (assembly and
senate), CA congressional representatives (house and senate) and local
media with an announcement of what uds.ubuntu.com<http://uds.ubuntu.com> is and what it might
mean to them. We should include how they might be able to learn more
and/or even participate. We will need to be prepared to field phone
calls and questions ourselves and direct responses to the appropriate
parties such as official Ubuntu and Canonical contacts.
Writing our initial contact letter should be a collaborative effort of
the ubuntu-us-ca team, working together on this via email, IRC and
maybe a sprint. What do you think?
