Its a great idea. Scale too, is a great place to meet new and old faces
(everyone will be new to me).

An interesting sort of midway point from LA and SF would be the Sequoia
National Park. There is a decent campground called Lodgepole. Would be nice
in springtime, say May or June? Ive driven by there in March/April and its
still pretty cold with chunks of snow and ice still. Early fall in September
is still warm (low 80s) and perfect weather. Lots to do around there and its
less crowded then Yosemite.

Pismo Beach is also a pretty area to consider. Both Sequoia and Pismo are
going to be about a 4 hour drive from LA or from SF.
