David,

I've been using Ubuntu for a couple of years, and I'm in Stockton. I
haven't had a chance to contribute to Ubuntu or Ubuntu California just
yet.

Hey David!

Good to hear from you :)

There are a few people up in your area who are also passionate about
Ubuntu. I encourage you to follow along with this mailing list, as it's
one of the primary means we have for planning events and getting
organized. Also, if you're familiar with IRC, you should chat it up in
#ubuntu-california, where we have bi-weekly meetings
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CaliforniaTeam/Meetings/09December13> .

For now, our Projects page
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CaliforniaTeam/Projects> on the wiki only has
preliminary planning for our Lucid release parties in April. If you're
interested in getting something else started I highly recommend adding
it as an agenda item to the meeting where we can discuss ideas/plans.

Best,

Joe Smith

HI!

I'm in Fresno, Calif. and have used Ubuntu for about a year now. I've
been using computers now for over 30 years, however, I am rather new at
getting involved in the Ubuntu users groups. Is there any way you could
help me get connected with Ubuntu users here in the Fresno/Clovis,
Calif. area? Also, is there anything that you can think of that you or
someone else in the user group needs me to do (such as collaboration
work of some kind) as my payback to all the wonderful people who have
helped me by programming Ubuntu and distributing it to me? I can do
most anything, that isn't involving the coding of programs? I'm more of
a sytem's analyst type rather tha a program language coder. Thanks
