Hello,

I just found and subscribed to this mailing list to try and get an idea of
what things are like in the Birmingham area Ubuntu-wise and living-wise.

I plan on coming down sometime in April for a week to visit a friend in
Birmingham but I'm also looking at it as a possible place to move to as I'm
at a point where I need to leave the New England area for a new environment.

Currently I work at a small elementary school and run their computer lab and
all the IT in the building. It's mostly a monoculture of Windows in our
district but I've been working in as much F/LOSS as possible along with
getting dual boot systems in place.

The past few summers I've also created summer camps where students were
taught how to build computers from scratch and install/use Ubuntu on them.

I'm not sure if I would go back into Education again right away (I'm looking
for something maybe different) but I was wondering what things were like
down where you guys/girls are and if there is a decent F/LOSS community
around there.

Any information you can give me would be great!

-Nicco
