Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

Debian has added james westby's patch to add missing mode argument to 
open(2) call with O_CREAT. So the package can be synced again. 

Changelog since current karmic version 0.6.7-3ubuntu1:

doodle (0.6.7-4) unstable; urgency=low

  * Updating vcs fields in control file.
  * Using patch-stamp rather than patch in rules file.
  * Removing config.guess and config.sub in clean target of rules.
  * Replacing obsolete dh_clean -k with dh_prep.
  * Updating to standards version 3.8.1.
  * Updating year in copyright file.
  * Using quilt rather than dpatch.
  * Updating rules file to current state of the art.
  * Adding patch from James Westby <jw+debian at jameswestby.net> to add
    missing mode argument to open(2) call with O_CREAT (Closes: #506555).
